Camp L-More

On the waterfront Lake Elmore in Vermont, Camp L-More offers weekly and nightly getaways for up to six people. This classic Vermont lakefront camp with boats and its own dock offers paddling, swimming, sailing, and rowing in a pristine mountain setting. Two bedrooms, living room, dining and kitchen areas, plus waterside deck, garden, and hammock welcome families interested in swimming, boating, the outdoors, and life by the water. Located on the east shore of the lake along with dozens of similar cabins, Camp L-More comes with a swim float, kayaks, rowboats, sailboats, a private dock, and steps down into the water. The surrounding Elmore community offers mountain scenery, a State Park with beach and hiking trails, playground, general store (with home-made pizza), all within walking distance. Ten minutes away in Morrisville you’ll find a classic American town with restaurants and shops. Twenty minutes away is Stowe, famous for skiing, craft beer, and Vermont culture. Camp L-More is 40 minutes from Waterbury and Interstate 89, and an hour from Burlington, Vermont’s largest city.

Ours is an old-fashioned family camp, built in 1950, and designed for summer use on a clean, friendly lake. It’s not a resort. The other camps are close by, so you need to be aware of the noises you make. We have renovated the cottage, but not changed its basic primitive seasonal character. The cottage still gets its water for washing and bathing directly from the lake — but it’s filtered, and purified now with ultraviolet light. The cottage sports neither air conditioning nor central heating, but all the windows open, and each room includes supplemental electric heaters, controlled by thermostats, for chilly nights.

Camp Elmore is a place for swimming, boating, reading, conversation, hiking, family meals on the deck, and early bedtime. It is not a place for loud music, television, video games, fast driving, or late-night parties.
