Objectives

• Develop skills in using the iPad for creating and delivering classroom presentations.
• Learn how to create a podcast on the iPad.
• Learn how to create an eBook on the iPad (or on the Macintosh), distribute it, and read it with iBooks..

Prerequisites

• Successful completion of the Meet Your iPad workshop.
• Familiarity and experience with the iPad, its built-in apps, Keynote, Pages, iMovie, and iBooks.
• Full configuration of the Mail app on your iPad, successful use of an iTunes account with Apple ID to download apps.
• Successful experience using the iPad for teaching and learning.

Teaching and Learning with the iPad

• Rethinking the Lecture. This session helps faculty members prepare engaging multimedia lecture presentations, incorporating visual communication techniques and active learning strategies. Participants review research and analysis of classroom presentations, learn guiding principles for active digital lectures, and use Keynote on the iPad to create several multimedia lecture slides for their own work. Includes a discussion of the power of images.
  
  
• Podcasting: This session examines the educational possibilities of podcasts, and shows you how to produce your own. This session will look at how podcasts are being employed in higher education, and get you started making your own podcasts with iMovie or Sonic Pics.
  
  
• Publishing an eBook: This session looks at the features of the industry-standard ePub format (what iBooks uses), and gets participants started making their own books with Creative Book Builder on the iPad, or Pages on the Macintosh.
