Copyright Consideror

Welcome to the copyright consideror. I designed this online tool to help you think through your use of copyright material for teaching, especially items you're going to post online. It's designed to help you consider what you might do, and not to give you legal advice or a final answer. And it's not a substitute for a discussion with your librarian -- rather it's a first step to understanding what's possible and what's not. And why. It asks you questions about the work in question, your school, and the ways you plan to use the work, and provides feedback along the way. This tool is based on many sources, most notably Copyright Basics from the CUNY libraries.
